FREE SNOWSHOE RENTALS ON SUNDAYS!

You are welcome to come to Pine Grove Lodge, home of Maine Guide Snowshoes, and try out our snowshoes! We have beautiful trails from the yard. Hike to nearby waterfall, Houston Brook Falls, or snowshoe the mountain across the street. When you get back from your jaunt, enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, or hot cocoa, and homemade snacks. Please call for reservation or space can not be guaranteed.

Mariya Gilliland, 14, from Eagle River, Alaska, competed in four Snowshoe Biathlon events at the Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, March 4-10, 2012. Maine Guide Snowshoes sponsored this young lady by providing newly designed racing snowshoes for her to use in these events. The Arctic Winter Games is a high profile circumpolar sport competition for northern and Arctic athletes. Teams from Yamil Russia, Yukon, NWT, Greenland, Nunavut, N. Alberta, Nunavik Quebec, Sapmi, and Alaska all competed in these games. The Games celebrate sport, social exchange and cultures. Mariya has participated in Biathlon for one year, training with coaches Tom Grenier and Simon Gilliland and the Alaska Biathlon Club in Anchorage, Alaska. She competed in four separate events: 2K sprint, 2.5K mass start, 3K sprint, and a 3 X 2K relay, and received one Gold, two Silver, and one bronze medals! Mariya is an avid Nordic and Alpine skier, learning to ski when she was just two years old.
